Ceville : iPhone Application

Ceville for iPhone is same as the PC game which is a point and click arcade style game. In this game player has to hit as many enemies he can in a stipulated time period. The game is quite easy and is repetitive.

You can play the game as one of the two characters which are Ceville who throws tomato and other is Lilly who throws garlic. The game has three different stages first id the dungeon stage then the Oasis and the last one is graveyard. The stages are panorama so you can tap and drag the screen to see other parts of it or just tilt the iPhone each side which is bit hard to control.

You have to unlock the next two levels of the game when you play for the first time. To unlock you have to score well. The theme of the game is to throw your projectile of choice at the enemies that pops across the screen time to time and hit them. When you want to reload you have to click on the depleted ammunition. Scoring in this game may seem bit confusing but scoring high is possible by hitting many enemies in a row.
Graphics of the game is awesome with colorful and vibrant music background. This game is captivating for any child with its funny cartoon voices and exciting colors.

Dragon's Lair : Iphone Application

Dragon’s Liar, a most popular arcade games is an interactive animated film created by Don Bluth. The concept of the game is to lead the hero Dirk the Daring on to his venture into lair of Singe who is a lethargic dragon to save the thong clad princess Daphne. The player has to guide the hero through each scene like following on screen action prompts like hitting left will command Dirk’s action such as dodging Singe’s fire or jumping to the perilous gap. Those entire scenes take up to three seconds to one minute. There will be many death experiences like falling into pits of fire or purple tentacles strangling.

You can play the game in two modes i.e. Home and Arcade. In the Home version if a player dies then he has to return to the beginning of the failed scene. In Arcade mode the hero gets to start in a random scene after he dies. The video quality is good with crisp sound quality as well. You should have quick reflexes for the game which is fun as well as challenging. You can save Daphne in an hour or so. But if you are beat once then there isn’t much to play. You can increase the difficulty and you can check the score board on the top.

Super Bowl : iPhone Application

There has been an excitement for the upcoming super bowl game among the fans of Indianapolis.  Several apps are aimed at enhancing the football watching experience so that you can gear up yourself for the excitement. This also provides you cheap amusement if any team fails to give an exciting contest.

Iceberg Reader provides the official souvenir program for the super bowl game thrice the price in mobile form. The programs have news and notes about both the teams vying for the Vince Lombardi trophy. They also feature articles about Miami past super bowls and notable football greats.  The app also includes the program for the last weekend’s Pro Bowl game. Super Bowl XLIV Official NFL Game Program app is an ideal game time companion where you can tap the screen; summon up a game center option which will give you details from the NFL.com. But the controls are not that smooth. You have to read each articles by scrolling up and down. If you swipe sideways then you can go to the next article. It takes awhile for the page to get downloaded and when it does it flips up or down which makes you read it as notebook. The descriptions of the articles are cut off even if you are looking at them in Browse or list view.

Onslaught from Space - Iphone Application

Onslaught from space is an arcade gaming application. This game has neon colors with simple graphics and sound effects together with iPhone’s touch screen and accelerometer controls which makes it quite familiar but challenging. The concept of the game is simple that is you are flying a spaceship and then you are being attacked by other spaceships. You need to tap the screen to shoot at enemies with the lasers. For the shoots you get rewarded with points that are turned into cash which you can use later in repairing, health upgrades and more new weapons like missiles and bombs.
You have to tilt the phone side to side and back and forth so that you can align yourself with the enemy ships. The two radar screens will help you in checking what is in front of and behind you though the range is limited. You are in a fixed position though the ships can approach or retreat.

The successive levels are harder and stronger and you can see more ships approaching. You can find 33 levels. The concept of storing is good but all the listed items are not worth purchasing. The missiles are not as good as they should be. Repairs and health upgrades are good. The weapons available can be viewed at the bottom of the screen but you have to slide them over and select which one you want to use at a particular time. This is quite clumsy and confusing. All in all this game is pretty intuitive and enjoyable.

Birds eye for iPhone

Iphone’s BirdsEye is one of the simplest, unique and most useful birding application which uses the power of eBird, a collaboration between The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Audubon Society. Bird sights are collected from birdwatchers all over the world. Mostly the data in the BirdsEye app are about the birds found in North America.

BirdsEye which is developed by Birds in the Hand has database of almost 470 most regularly observed birds in North America. If you are ready to invest another $20 you can make an in-app purchase of 377 additional species. You also have choice to buy specific families of birds instead of 377 species database. BirdsEye’s database has field notes from Kenn Kaufman’s Field Guide, from Macaulay Library of Sound they have birds call and photographs taken from Vireo collection at the Academy of Natural Sciences. The electronic Field Guide is not as good as the printed field guides.

This app has a feature where you can compile a list of birds you have seen yourself known as Life List. This feature is most beneficial yet is incomplete as it only creates a list but doesn’t allow you to make personal notes on your sightseeing. The personal sightings will be visible in the BirdsEye if you post your bird sightings to ebird.com but you can’t link the BirdsEye app with your eBird account. You have to do all those manually. Helps in finding whatever bird species you are looking for. They show you a map which shows where and when a particular species was reported and then they also give you directions to the location. But they don’t give the exact location of finding the bird which is a demerit. The app is so intuitive that you can figure out what to do by just looking at the screen once. The layout is quite simple, very well designed and easy to navigate.

WolframAlpha for IPhone

WolframAlpha for IPhone

Recently Wolfram Alpha’s iPhone was released which gives users full access to Wolfram Alpha’s capabilities and immensely improved in speed and ergonomics of Wolframs Alpha’s mobile site. The main aim of the company is to replace stand alone graphic calculators by targeting this app at students and professionals.

One of the amazing features of this app is its dual keyboards. One keyboard is for numbers and symbols and other a regular QWERTY keyboard. This app works only when you are connected to the Internet. This might be a deal breaker for many but then it has plenty to offer like the basic graphing calculators when you can’t access Internet. It is well suited to solve a high school or college goer through its vast database of chemical compounds, nutritional data, geographical information, financial data etc.

Using Alpha isn’t as easy as using Google. It’s rather strict on how you structure a querry while Google has no such specification. It has a demo video to help you out with lots of example queries.
Though the price is too high the Wolfram Alpha team is stressing on the part of this app having lot to offer that a Web app can’t offer. This app is capable of making assumptions based on your location they also have included some features that make using the app easier than using the web service.

Google voice for iPhone

posted by manish in Social Networking

Google Voice for iPhone will be released in two versions one would be full featured version and other the light version which will be made available to the users free of cost.

Google voice for iPhone

When you would launch the app for the first time there are few basic set ups that needs to be attended. These would be logging into your Google Voice account and then entering your phone number that is going to be used for calling. This quite simple and easy and to make it more easy there is a “remember me” toggle which will store your login information. Once you finish this set up then you see several icons on the bottom of the app. These icons include the Keypad, SMS, History, Voicemail and settings. You can use the Keypad to dial the numbers you want to make a call to. You can dial a number or use iPhone contacts for existing numbers. You can send SMS via Google Voice. You can simply type a message and send to your iPhone contacts. The replies of the SMS will be automatically forwarded to the default SMS app on your iPhone. History will give access to both incoming and outgoing calls from the Google Voice account. In visual voice mail settings you can find the voicemails and listen to them using regular phone, speaker or a headset.

In all Google Voice is worth waiting for as its simple to use and price is fair enough.
