Meebo is good for instant messaging form any computer with Web Browser. Meebo is a web app which is common aiming tech savvy kids who want to send instant messages to their friends.

With the rise of smart phone meebo doesn’t seem that attractive. Meebo works on the iPhone’s browser which is not good as native iPhone app. meebo can search through your past chats on the iPhone app and on meebo.com so you get to check all messages no matter where you go. It also supports push notification where you can seamlessly switch between chat sessions on the iPhone app and meebo.com on your desktop. You are able to set status messages for individual accounts so that you can separate the business life from personal life. This way you can manage IM friends. Meebo supports AIM, Yahoo, Windows Live Messenger, GTalk, Facebook, My Space and some other odd 100 networks. It requires iPhone OS 3.0 to run all these.

Google Voice for iPhone will be released in two versions one would be full featured version and other the light version which will be made available to the users free of cost.

When you would launch the app for the first time there are few basic set ups that needs to be attended. These would be logging into your Google Voice account and then entering your phone number that is going to be used for calling. This quite simple and easy and to make it more easy there is a “remember me” toggle which will store your login information. Once you finish this set up then you see several icons on the bottom of the app. These icons include the Keypad, SMS, History, Voicemail and settings. You can use the Keypad to dial the numbers you want to make a call to. You can dial a number or use iPhone contacts for existing numbers. You can send SMS via Google Voice. You can simply type a message and send to your iPhone contacts. The replies of the SMS will be automatically forwarded to the default SMS app on your iPhone. History will give access to both incoming and outgoing calls from the Google Voice account. In visual voice mail settings you can find the voicemails and listen to them using regular phone, speaker or a headset.

In all Google Voice is worth waiting for as its simple to use and price is fair enough.

What do you get from a fusion of the world’s fastest growing electronics device and the world’s fast growing social networking site? If you don’t know what the above two things are, you’re a little behind the rest. I’m of course talking about the iPhone and iPod Touch, and Twitter. While I hope everyone is aware what the first is, I will tell you what Twitter is and how it works. Twitter is basically a site that lets you provide updates on what you’re doing, your life, etc., as long as it’s under 140 characters. The fusion of the two creates Twitterfon, an cool new twitter application that allows you to manage the site conveniently from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Created by Kazuho Okui, the app has grown to become the largest Twitter one in the entire world!

There’s not much to say about this App, except the fact that it gets the job it was made to do done. As far as we could tell, there was nothing that you can do on a computer-based twitter application that wasn’t possible on this App as well. Sure, there were some cool features that are present on computer applications such as TwitterDeck, but we understand that those features would be incredibly hard, if not impossible to port onto the iPhone and iPod Touch. The fact that this App cost us a frugal $0 made it even more enticing, and in the future, much more accessible to average iPhone and iPod user.

So, apart from a few little glitches that made it difficult for us to function with the app (the text magnifier was invisible due to the input box being at the top). So, with all that said, we award this App a near-perfect 4 out of 5 stars.

Technology is a very popular sector to watch at the moment, and while people are watching new companies like Google, Facebook, and MySpace grow, many are forgetting about older companies such as AOL. What they are forgetting is that AOL’s flagship messaging software, AIM, is still the number one instant messaging client in the world. So, not wanting to be left behind in the mobile market, AOL has released their instant messaging client for both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The AIM client is fairly impressive, in the sense that it gets all the basics down without a problem. All you have to do is open the app, enter your screenname and password, and connect. After that, you can choose to message any one of your contacts, and you’ll be led into an instant messaging screen similar to the one you find on your computer. There is also an option to add new contacts, and to sort contacts into groups, similar to the ones on the computer based client. There isn’t much other than that, which was fairly disappointing for us. We were hoping for at least some primitive way to communicate with voice and video.

So, while this App wasn’t as innovative or ground-breaking as we would have liked, we still think it gets it’s very basic job done. It was made to allow people to communicate and instant message each other through AIM, and it accomplishes that without a doubt. We’re just going to hope that AOL will take this App to the next level next time, and incorporate some video or voice chatting features, or atleast something similar. They’re going to have some value to their product if they want to beat any other mainstream IM app anyways. So with that said, we’re going to give this a foundational 3 out of 5 stars.

Facebook, the legendary social networking platform that took over the browser, is now aiming for the mobile market with its new application, which is very simply called “Facebook”. This application has been released directly from Facebook and joins a host of other applications from competing social networks. The goal with all these applications is to grab a share of the mobile networking scene for their respective companies, and with Facebook’s App, it seems we have found a winner.
The Facebook App was designed with the traditional Facebook navigation and feel in mind, and the App looks exactly the site would on a browser, minus some of the quirks. The entire App flows smoothly, with one page flowing into the next and easily touchable buttons to add comments and make updates. Facebook has really gone out of their way to make sure that both iPhone and iPod Touch users would have no problem performing essential functions on their App.

The functionality aspect of the Facebook App is very useful as well. Not only can you access your essential functions such as the news feed, notifications, and requests, but Facebook has also included various extras, such as their Facebook chat, photo uploading, and on-the-fly status updates. In addition, iPhone and iPod Touch specific functions such as the shake-to-refresh were very handy for us as well.

So, all in all, the Facebook App provided us with a great way to connect and perform the essential functions with one of the top social networking platforms on the web, which is why we are going to award it 4 out of 5 golden stars.

The app is very good and easy to use. Graphically is perfect and very intuitive. Just select the service you want to use, add your account details, set your chat status (online/offline) and you are ready to chat. The problem is that this app is very unstable at the moment. Every three messages sent, it would disconnect from the chat server and set you offline. So thumbs up for the app, but wait for an update because at the moment is almost worthless and annoying.

How could a Twitter addicted like me (@davidedicillo) not review Twitterific? So here we go!

This was the first Twitter iPhone application I downloaded but it didn’t really impress me, especially cause it was keep crashing, rebooting the all phone. So I switched to Twittelator for a while since a friend of mine convinced me to give it another shot. I have to say, after a couple of updates (of both the iPhone and the Twitterific) the application now is much more stable.

For sure the interface is one of the best one I’ve seen till now on the iPhone and it even drive me to abandone Twhirl for the desktop application of Twitterific. The ads aren’t too invasive so I don’t think I’ll buy the premium version anytime soon, unless they add something more than a light background option to choose from.

If you are a Twitter user like me Twitterific is the way to go.
